Carbon Copy is a program similar to CCI TERM but more complicated. It's
primary use is for DOS environments, but it can be used under CCI Concurrent DOS
also. To use, it requires two separate serialized copies, one running in guest
mode (CCHELP), one running in host mode (CC). The procedures here were developed with V6.1 of Carbon Copy.
Installation
Install normally, allowing Carbon Copy to create directories where needed.
The port selected must be defined as an AUX port under CCI Concurrent DOS or DR
Multiuser DOS. Only the Async modules need be installed, although LAN options
are also available.
Usage
To enter the host mode, type "CC" at the prompt (provided the C:\CCA
directory is included in the path). A message indicating that the COM port
failed the interrupt test is likely to be seen under CCI Concurrent DOS. This
message may be ignored. The program is trying to grab the address of the port.
We recommend using the guest mode under DOS, as Carbon Copy doesn't
behave consistently under CCI Concurrent or DR Multiuser DOS. To enter the guest mode, type "CCHELP" at the prompt, (again, provided the
C:\CCA directory is included in the path). Once the modem has been configured,
press F1 to call the CC User, then enter the phone number of the site.
- NOTES:
- Session switching will not be possible once the connection has been made, as
CC will be running in one session only.
- Not all graphics-based applications will be displayed cleanly, so it is
recommended to avoid using them where possible.
