If fax capability is needed on a CCI Concurrent DOS system, we generally recommend one of the dedicated fax boards listed below. The faxmodems and faxmodem software we have tested (with the exceptions listed below) are very timing-sensitive and not suited to use in multiuser systems. GAMMA FAX CP BOARD - FAX BOARD INTERNAL Gammalink 408-744-1400 Gammafax CP (Communications Professional) board is their more expensive fax board and is suited for multiuser installations. Must use their device driver in a dedicated session. It must be in the foreground to receive faxes, but can send faxes while in the background. INTEL SATISFAXION 300, 425 - FAX BOARD INTERNAL Intel, Available from major distributors Use Satisfaxion software; load driver and TSR as part of batch file, and unload TSR and driver (in that order) at end of batch file. Can be used with WordPerfect, designate in WP a printer that doesn't exist, and define as a HPSI so that all fonts will be accepted. Map that printer to the Satisfaxion port, so that when you print in WP to that printer it is sent out via the fax. JETFAX2 - EXTERNAL FAX DEVICE Jetfax 415-324-0600 This fax plugs into a parallel port on your computer and sits between the parallel port and a laser printer for sending and receiving faxes. The software can be used as a TSR or a standalone program in a session. This is used in house by CCI. MULTITECH MODEM and MULTITECHEXPRESS FAX Multitech hardware and software, available from major distributors; requires a dedicated session.
