CCITERM can be used under Windows 95/98. It can be added to the desktop or put inside a folder. These instructions cover both approaches, and also describe some configuration settings.

Go to a MS-DOS prompt. Make a CCITERM subdirectory. Copy the file CCITRM.EXE from your computer's MDOS directory to this CCITERM directory. Execute the command CCITRM. This will expand the file and create the run-time executable. Exit back to the windows desktop.

To add CCITERM to your desktop:

  1. Click on Start, then Programs, then Microsoft Explorer.
  2. In Explorer, click on the drive & directory of CCITERM.
  3. Click on the CCITERM file on the right side. RIGHT CLICK on the highlighted text and hold the mouse button down while dragging the icon to the desktop.
  4. Choose Create Shortcut Here. This adds CCITERM to your desktop.

To add CCITERM to a folder:

  1. Put your cursor on the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Right click on the Taskbar, then left click on Properties.
  3. Click on Start Menu Programs, then Advanced.
  4. Click on Programs. Then click on the folder you wish to add CCITERM to, or make a new folder.
  5. Right click on the new folder and select File, New, Shortcut. Enter the entire location of the CCITERM.EXE program.
  6. Click on Done.

To let CCITERM run better as a windows task, it should be given as much processor time as possible. On the Icon of CCITERM, select Properties. Then select Screen, then Full-Screen. Select Misc, then move Idle Sensitivity to Low. Be sure the Ctrl-Esc box is un-checked. Uncheck the Alt-PrtScr box if you will be using TAKEOVER. Click on OK.

On some computers you may need to perform the following. From the main desktop click: Start | Settings | Control Panel | System (icon) | Device Mgr | Ports | COMx | Properties | General. Then uncheck the Original Configurations box. This should keep Windows 95/98 from disabling the port.
